KARACHI: Pakistan's Usman Qamar won another gold medal in the ongoing Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, Germany on Thursday.
After bagging a gold medal in the cycling event yesterday, Usman won the gold in the Cycling Time Trial event today.
Zainab Ali Raza of Pakistan also won a gold medal in the Cycling event. So far, the number of gold medals won by Pakistan in the event has increased to six.
Usman completed the time trial of the 2km road race distance in 7 minutes 21.59 seconds while Zainab Ali Raza completed the 2 km distance in the cycling event in 6 minutes 49.29 seconds.
Usman Qamar has so far won 2 gold medals in the World Games. On the other hand, Mohammad Safir Abad Rizvi of Pakistan won the silver medal by completing the distance of 25 km race in 53 minutes 34.85 seconds.
Pakistan's Maria Manzoor won a silver medal in the bench press and a bronze medal in the combined weight category of the 69 weight class category. In the quarter-finals of the athletics 400 meters race, Pakistan's Sana came fourth with a time of 1 minute 26 seconds.
Meanwhile, in Badminton, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan 21-18 and 21-15 while Macao China defeated Pakistan 21-17 and 21-15.
In the field hockey mix event, Pakistan defeated Paraguay by 5-0. In the second match, Pakistan qualified for the semi-finals after defeating Bulgaria 5-4.
In the women's basketball event, Bulgaria defeated Pakistan by 21 points against 11.
In the unified men's table tennis event, Imtisham Danish and Adeel Khan of Pakistan won the bronze medal by winning 3-2 against France. In the women's event, Pakistan's Faiza Qamar and Iman Amir won the bronze medal with a 3-0 victory over Saudi Arabia.
In swimming events, Pakistan's Hasan Patel finished sixth in the 25m freestyle, Pakistan's Amna Momin finished eighth in the women's 25 freestyle while Fatima Khan finished fifth in the 257m freestyle. All three Pakistani swimmers managed to improve their individual records at the World Games.
Pakistan's Haider Ahmed won silver in the squat of 83 weight class category of the powerlifting event, bronze in the bench press, bronze in the deadlift and silver medal in combined weight with overall weight lifting of 250 kg.
